Dr Marco La Rosa: Grid Architect & System Administrator
Marco La Rosa has played a key role in the development of Data Grid Infrastructure in Australia and is employed as a Grid Architect and System Administrator at VeRSI.
Prior to joining VeRSI Marco constructed the two Australian nodes of the EGEE Grid at The University of Melbourne. Recognized within the Asia-Pacific region as a gLite Grid expert, he has contributed to and worked closely with the Australian Grid Program as well as with collaborators in the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Taiwan, China, Japan and Korea.
Marco's role at VeRSI includes developing a storage infrastructure as well as data management and Grid toolkits to facilitate the adoption of eResearch tools and methodologies by researchers. Marco is a member of the National eResearch Architecture Taskforce under the NCRIS 5.16 Platform for Collaboration activities.
Marco holds an Honours degree in experimental Chemistry and a PhD in Computational Chemistry from the University of Melbourne. His technical experience ranges widely across HPC cluster computing, Grid technologies, Storage and Data infrastructure management.
