Around 50 percent of Australian men experience some type of prostate problem during their lifetime. Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in men. Researchers at Monash University aim to provide better diagnosis and treatments for prostate cancer and benign prostate disease.

VeRSI is working with the researchers to develop a common interface for all their different data inputs - patient data; laboratory data; clinical data from general pathology and investigative surgery; and uro-oncology data describing operative (pre-surgical), intra-operative and post-surgical notes and pathology.

VeRSI has developed a web-based interface and database that supports the management and discovery of distributed patient data and allows for aggregation of data germane to prostate cancer research. This interface will allow Monash researchers to share aspects of their prostate tissue data with colleagues at other institutes, while maintaining control and patient confidentiality.
