Video data capture

The University of Melbourne boasts a large humanities and social sciences community, much of whom use video as the main method of data capture and recording. Though a rich method of data capture, video can pose challenges when it comes to storage.

Through funding from ANDS, VeRSI will work with the university to maximise the potential of video as a data capture method by integrating capture facilities across the university; developing software to automate metadata capture from future and existing video footage; and developing standardized deposit services. Once developed, these tools can be applied to many other faculties across the university such as the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, the Faculty of Music as well as the Victorian College of the Arts.
