RDSI Project - Consultation Series
RDSI invites you to participate in a series of Research Data Services (ReDS) consultation workshops being held around Australia during February 2012.
These workshops will be of particular relevance to:
- Researchers (and host institutions) who use, generate and compile research data.
- Owners and stewards of data collections that may be used in research activities, including public sector agencies.
- Facilities, institutions and service providers that manage research activities and infrastructure.
- Organisations that may potentially administer and coordinate aggregated data collections and management activities (such as peak discipline bodies).
- Potential RDSI Nodes, Affiliate Nodes and Additional Nodes.
Focus
The focus of each workshop is to present and receive feedback on the latest ReDS Tinman document (v2), released on 20 January 2012.
The Tinman describes processes for applying, assessing, allocating and managing performance of data collections hosted by Nodes on RDSI-funded storage. The document introduces significant concepts and roles that are intended to support the efficient and scalable rollout of infrastructure in a short period, and remain effective and manageable in the long term.
RDSI is seeking input from all parties with an interest in research activities and data collections. Feedback will inform the development of the initial programme plan, including processes and guidelines for the first call (expected in April 2012). The programme will continue to evolve based on the experience and continued feedback of participants.
Questions and comments collated from the workshops and subsequent submissions will inform the development of the ReDS programme for the initial call for applications, expected in April 2012.
