Introduction to the VLSCI

At the opening seminar of the Life Science Computation Seminar Series Professor Leon Sterling, Director of eResearch at Melbourne University, will provide an introduction to and overview of the Victorian Life Science Computation Initiative (VLSCI). He will provide an overview of the potential projects (from the expressions of interest) and how these have shaped the business plan. Leon will outline the the six research categories and the existing expertise in these fields in Victoria: in silico drug discovery; clinical research informatics; biomedical image analysis; biomolecular structure prediction; computational biomodelling; and, bioinformatics. He will present the current status and how the transition from the current 'Stage 0' to 'Stage 1' will proceed.
